Our Half-Day Camp Themes
Dig Into Archaeology
Kids learn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities! They discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts they used in everyday life! They also study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils. Each class also includes a make and take-home project, like a fossil reproduction, an amber time capsule, and coins from around the world!
Children overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors, and most importantly, their minds. With a bit of ingenuity, they create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks, and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs.
NASA Journey into Outer Space
Set your future space explorers on a trajectory from our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system! This hands-on program brings them closer to the stars, planets, comets, and more. They learn about living in space, getting away from gravity, looking for space phenomena, and they participate in a rocket launch!
Coming up with solutions to issues and then tinkering around some more is what engineers do! We cover a different field each day in this 3 hour camp: the history of codes, space engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and forensics (in the 5 day camp). The kids will be hands on and take home a project that they made themselves each day!
Rockin' Rockets & Radical Robots
Building a model rocket AND a solar powered robot in the same week!? It's like a kid's dream come true! We learn about Newton's laws of motion, the forces of nature, calculation of thrust and altitude. Simple programming, the different movements of robots, and basic circuitry round out this knowledge-and fun-packed camp!
Using LEGO® bricks, kids build a different engineering-themed project in each class. They explore different engineering fields, including structural, aerospace, and nautical. They use critical thinking, and creative problem-solving to test and improve their creations. The kids do not have to take Elemental to take Ultimate! Kids need to be going into 2nd grade or older.
Build and engineer with LEGO bricks! We follow the plans and then decide how to make it better! We di a different engineering field each day: mechanical, biomimicry, and vehicular. While these builds are a bit more advanced than those in Elemental, the kids do not need to take Elemental to take Ultimate. They should be going into 2nd grade or older.
Secret Agent Lab
This program features fun-filled, hands-on, secret agent-themed science activities that allow kids to play detective, explore forensic science, sharpen their surveillance skills, and crack encrypted messages. Kids become super sleuths!
Children explore the inside of the body and learn about the organ systems and the cells that it's composed of. They discover the inside anatomy of insects and why they do what they do in this hands-on summer science adventure!
The Garden (Preschool)
This five-session preschool camp offers young children (ages 3-5) an exciting introduction to basic environmental science. With each session, children enrich their understanding of how living things grow and how they interact with the environment around them, through different aspects of the garden.
Coding is all around us in the 21st century. With our coding program, kids will practice writing code and then immediately see the results. The instructor takes the kids through simple coding procedures, then through loops, patterns, abstractions, etc. Mission: Code is taught by the Mad Science instructor in the school computer lab.
